Located in Union County, New Jersey, the town of Summit, with a population of approximately 22,000, is known for its picturesque neighborhoods and vibrant downtown area. However, despite its charming facade, Summit has not been immune to crime. According to the latest crime statistics, the town's violent crime rate stands at 12.2, significantly lower than the national average of 22.7. Nevertheless, its property crime rate of 18.2 is still higher than the US average of 35.4. As a resident of Summit, I am grateful for the lower violent crime rate but concerned about the prevalence of property crimes, which include theft, burglary, and motor vehicle theft. It is essential for the community to come together and take necessary precautions to keep our town safe and secure.
